Spanish wine
and Sangria

Firstly I'd just like to point out I'm no expert on Spanish wine or any wine this is just brief info on areas in Spain where it is produced. Wine tasting trips in Spain
are available and are a good way of leaning about wine if like me the only thing you know abou Spanish wine is that it tastes good!

One of the largest wine producing regions in Eurpoe is the well known La Rioja region of Spain, the place is just full of vineyards! Although many Brits know the name they Don't know where it is as it's not near any beaches! There are many wine tasting oportunities in La Rioja (I've been on a few myself) they give you a brief insight to the many varieties of Rioja and you get to taste or as I did, drink a lot of it! You can also visit the may Bodegas (wineries) and see how it's made now and in past times.

Their types/ages of wine include Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva and Vino de Outer. (red) also white and rose.

One thing I discovered whilst there was Rose is not made from a mix
of white and red grapes but is made from the same grapes as white wine and aquires it's rose colour from the leather lined Barrels it's contained in.

The City of Jerez takes its name from the Spanish word for Sherry, it is deep in the heart of Andalucia South Spain. I definately recommend doing a bar crawl here, tasting a glass of different types in each bar, you get little free snacks with it (pinchos) and you don't need to buy a whole bottle to find which type and brand you prefer!

The very Spanish drink of Sangria is mostly made of wine and also contains vodka, fresh orange and lemon juice, fresh chopped fruit, sugar to taste and ice. I will be putting exact recipes shortly.
